Urostomy Association
Our Aims
To assist those who are about to undergo or who have undergone surgery which results in a urinary diversion, such as a urostomy, continent urinary pouch or neo bladder To assist carers in the rehabilitation of people with a urinary diversion. To improve the quality of life of people who have undergone urinary diversion surgery and those who care for them. To undertake such research as the Membership feels is necessary to enhance the life of members.
Our Activities
Hospital and Home Visiting
We have trained and CRB checked selected members of the Urostomy Association to visit members on request. They can visit either in hospital or in the privacy of the member's home. We aim to allay any apprehension a patient may have and to give encouragement and moral support to help the patient return to a normal mode of living after the operation. |

Information leaflets, publications and DVDs
Pam Flint DVD 'Living with Cancer' |
We have produced a range of leaflets, publications and DVDs that have been designed to inform members, on medical and non-medical issues and improve the quality of their lives.

Our Journal
The UA Journal is published three times a year and is distributed to our members, Stoma Nurses, Consultant Urologists and other interested healthcare professionals. The Journal provides an interesting forum for urostomates and gives them up-to-date news. It includes Branch details, contact numbers and product information.
Research
We have a 'Research and Development' fund that is currently assisting with the funding of a project by Newcastle University into urinary tract infections.
Exhibitions and Open Days
We support manufacturers and Stoma Care nurses by sending trained visitors to their events with UA display stands and a supply of our information leaflets.
