Urostomy Association
Charity No. 270600

The Association was formed in 1971 as the Urinary Conduit Association to help people who are about to undergo or have undergone surgery resulting in diversion of the urinary stream. In 1984 the name was changed to the Urostomy Association (UA).

The Aims of the Urostomy Association:

  • To assist those who are about to undergo or who have undergone surgery which results in a urinary diversion.
  • To improve the quality of life of people who have undergone urinary diversion surgery and those who care for them.
  • To undertake such research as the membership feels is necessary to enhance the life of members.

The Association employs just one full time member of staff, the National Secretary, whose salary was supported by Macmillan Cancer Relief until December 2005.

Since January 2006, the Association is solely dependent on income from subscriptions and donations from members and the general public.
