About the branch

The Newcastle branch is very active averaging 140 members who either have a Urostomy or Continent Urinary Pouch eg. Mitrofanoff.

Branch activities: Formal and informal meetings, very friendly. Fundraising – raffles, bring and buy, car boot sales, coffee mornings. Trained visitors available to patients pre or post urinary diversion surgery. Annual Christmas party.

We hold 2 main meetings each year in April and October on a Saturday from 1.00pm in the Post Graduate Centre, Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne. The meetings are very informal with refreshments, bring and buy stall and raffle. Appliance Manufacturers and Delivery Companies also exhibit. We usually have a guest speaker on various topics. Members also enjoy a Christmas Party with a superb buffet lunch. Other get-togethers and fund raising activities are also held throughout the year.

Come and join us! You will be made very welcome by other members who have all experienced the same or similar surgery. It is very reassuring to know that you are not alone.

If you are not able to attend meetings you may still join to receive regular mailings and the UA Journal 3 times a year with interesting topics and shared ideas from other members throughout the UK and Ireland.

If you are facing Urostomy or Pouch surgery you may be put in touch with another member if you wish.
